Come and walk in Gauguin’s footsteps, rediscover the atmosphere, the colors, the landscapes that inspired him.
The unavoidable :
Walk around town to see the port, the beautiful houses, the remains of mills, the wash houses, the chaos of the Aven and the love woods.
A cruise on the Aven and the Bélon: from April to mid-October, departures every day depending on the tides. Duration 1h15 or 1h45 depending on the circuits. Ticket office at the tourist office or 1 hour before departure at the port of Pont-Aven
Artists’ Galleries and Workshops: around sixty exhibition venues, open all year round. Hours vary depending on location, brochures available at the tourist office. Off season, especially Saturdays and Sundays.
The Chapel of Trémalo (16th century): it houses the polychrome wooden Christ which inspired Gauguin for his work “The Yellow Christ”. Located 1.5 km from the city center, it is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and accessible on foot (30 min) or by car (5 min). Access by coach difficult.
The walk in the footsteps of Gauguin: 3 walking circuits from 1 hour to 2:30 to discover the places painted by Paul Gauguin. Routes lined with street furniture with reproductions of paintings and commentaries. Itineraries available in the tourist guide.
Visits to a biscuit factory. Throughout the year, the Galette workshop, in the city center, offers demonstrations of the making of cakes and cookies. In July and August, the 2 local factories Traou Mad and Penven open their doors to visitors.
Guided tours. Guided tour of the city with a guide from the tourist office, in July and August 2015 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 am. Meetings and mediations at the museum, all year round, Tuesday at 3 p.m.
